James R. Van Decar (September 26, 1929 - March 31, 2008)
James R. Van Decar, age 78, died March 31, 2008 in the presence of his daughter Lisa and grandson Daryl. Mrs. Van Decar was born September 26, 1929 in Newberry, MI. He was a graduate from the University of Michigan where he earned his masters degree in education. Mr. Van Decar served in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict, earning medals of honor for his service. He was a teacher in the Lakeview School District for over 30 years. Mr. Van Decar is survived by his children Roxanne Van Decar, Mark Van Decar, Lisa Van Decar, and Erin (Stephen) Zucker; grandchildren Richard Van Decar, Robert Comito, Daryl Van Decar, and Kathryn Zucker. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8 p.m. and funeral services Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co. Funeral Home, Mount Clemens. Burial with military honors will take place in Clinton Grove Cemetery.
