Michiel G. Ede (August 23, 1907 - January 24, 2008)

Michiel G. Ede, a resident of Harrison Twp since 1949, died January 24, 2008 at Church of Christ Care Center in Clinton Twp.  Mr. Ede was born August 23rd, 1907 in Belgium, and emigrated with his parents when he was 6 years old, coming to America through Ellis Island.  He grew up in Detroit, and lived on a farm in Canada for a number of years.  Mr. Ede worked as a Foreman with the Hudson Motor Car Co., and also at General Motors.  Mr. Ede was a founding member of St. Hubert Catholic Church in Harrison Twp. and was a 3rd degree member of the St. Hubert Knights of Columbus Council #11658.  Mr. Ede was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and many trips up north. He and his late wife spent 14 years wintering in Florida, and were active with the Town Hall Seniors in Harrison Twp.  Mr. Ede celebrated his 100th birthday last year with a large celebration at St. Hubert Church.  Mr. Ede is survived by his children Richard G. (Margaret) Ede Sr. of Chicago and Charmaine (Milton) Hill of Harrison Twp.; grandchildren Bob, Doug, Cheryl, Sandra, Rick, Tom, Steve, Jim, Joe, Jenny and Jill; great grandchildren Rob, Kendra, Mary, Jessie, Aaron, Adam, Leeann, Rachel, Andrew, Jamie, Sierra, A.J., Tiffany, Sumner, Sayer, Stevie, Amanda, and Brianna; and great great grandchildren Lucas, Taylor Jo, Dominic.  He is predeceased by his wife Germaine in 1995, son Michiel G. Ede Jr. in 1984, and great great granddaughter Eva.  Visitation will be Monday from 2-9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Knights of Columbus service at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co. Funeral Home, 226 Crocker Blvd., Mount Clemens.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Harrison Twp. with Fr. James O’Leary officiating.  Additional visitation is 10:00 – 10:30 at the church.  Entombment will take place in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
