Michael John "Mickey" Thiry (February 17, 1950 - February 3, 2008)

Michael John (Mickey) Thiry, age 57, of Chesterfield Twp., died Sunday, Feb. 3rd.  He was born on February 17th, 1950 to Marvel and the late Gerald Thiry.  Mr. Thiry worked in real estate and sales after his honorable discharge from the army in 1972.  He had many passions, from perch and walleye fishing on Lake St. Clair to his multi-state champion softball teams, Michigan Football and horseshoe tournaments.  He also was the first person to organize a party, not needing much of a reason to honor someone else’s achievements.  He coached football, basketball, and baseball at L’Anse Creuse, his alma mater, from the late 1970’s to the early 1990’s.  He is survived by his mother Marvel; siblings Michelle Mayes, Denise (Jim) Thiry-Williford, & David; and son Jeremiah (Jay).  He is predeceased by his father Gerald in 2005 and his brother Skip in 2004.  A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10-1 with a 1:00 Memorial Service at the Wm. R. Hamilton Co. Funeral Home, 226 Crocker Blvd., Mount Clemens.
